WHO WE ARE

Lucy Emma Harris

Founder and co-Director of Agency East, Lucy has a long and varied professional career ranging from design and marketing to management and hospitality. She has worked all over the world (usually somewhere near the sea) from the Mediterranean and Caribbean to the far flung corners of the Pacific. This is how she learned that it’s only by working in partnership with communities, that creative thinking happens and has positive and lasting results. The common theme in Lucy’s work is that she has always worked with local people to tackle local problems. Lucy is currently a director of design agency Pixelwork and brings a strong eye for design to any project, and develops creative ideas that are solutions to learning and understanding for people who do not relate to traditional methods.  Lucy has managed projects across the education and skills sectors, from charitable trusts like the Bikini Islanders Trust in the Pacific to Groundwork in South Essex.

Lucy will always say that she has learnt from life and has spent many years working with worldwide communities understanding people.

Philip Dundas

co-Director Philip was expelled from school in 1982 and soon after began his career as an entrepreneur in the music business, going on to work with PolyGram International. In 1993 Philip was accepted to Oxford University as a mature student during which time, to pay his way, he continued to work as a freelance writer and researcher. After graduating he taught in Further Education and developed a passion for creating innovative approaches to work-related learning for people who had been failed by the education system. This focused on getting young people to be partners in designing strategies for change. In 2000, he joined BBC Scotland where as Senior Producer he led a production team on the Digital Curriculum. In 2005, he was appointed as the Director of Urban Learning Space, an action research lab creating learning tools to support innovation and creativity, working with HEIs, multi-partner FP6/7 projects, ESF funded economic development and designing technology led enterprise models.

After working as Business Development Director at Futurelab from 2007, he went on to manage the Royal Opera House Creative Partnerships programme in 120 schools across Essex. In 2010 Philip joined forces with Lucy at Agency East.
